The Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum in Poland
By Seif Kamel
Many tourists around the world explore ancient sites, contemporary
buildings and various museums. However, a visit to the Auschwitz-
Birkenau Museum in Oświęcim in Poland is a totally different story.
In fact, the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum and memorial was where the
Nazis carried out their concentration camps. In 1947, the government
decided to establish a museum and a memorial in the exact location and
with the same buildings. Today, it is one of the highlights tourists who
spend their vacations in Poland would visit.
The visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum would usually include
viewing exhibitions telling the story of this historical place. They would
watch the place where the Nazi concentration camp factually took place.
This is in addition to many exhibits of the victims of such brutal acts.

The Simplon Pass in Switzerland
By Seif Kamel
The Simplon Pass is a popular passageway between the Pennine Alps
and the Lepontine Alps in Switzerland. With its impressive height, being
more than 2000 meters, it is quite a favorite destination for tourists who
visit Switzerland.
In fact, for many centuries, there was always a passageway between the
Alps Mountains. However, when the French troops took control of this
area at the beginning of the 19 th century, they constructed a road to help
them transfer army equipment and weapons.
Afterwards, in the 1950s the road witnessed some improvements.
However, the state we view today goes back to the 1970s when the
government carried out a plan to enhance the whole rout. Today, the
Simplon Pass is among the places tourists who visit Switzerland are
keen to explore.

The Palace of Achilleion in Greece
By Seif Kamel
Constructed in the Corfu Island in Greece, the Achilleion Palace was
constructed for the Empress Elisabeth of Austria. A visit to the
Achilleion Palace is commonly included in many travel packages to
Greece.
There is in fact an interesting story behind the establishment of this
palace. When the empress grieved because of the death of her son in
1889, she ordered the building of this distinctive palace. The Achilleion
provides magnificent views of the city of Corfu and the Southern section
of the whole island.
The layout and design of the palace were set to mimic residents and
palaces in ancient Greece. Achilles, the famous ancient Greek Hero,
represents the main theme of the palace. Empress Elisabeth was quite
fond of Greece. This is why the palace was luxuriously constructed and
ornamented. Today, the Achilleion Palace serves as a museum that

The Royal palace of Casablanca
By Seif Kamel
The Royal palace of Casablanca is considered by many scholars to be
the architectural gem of Morocco. Situated in the amazing Habous
neighborhood of Casa, the whole area was mainly developed and erected
by the French around the 1930s.
The palace is a startling example of a marvelous blend between
Moroccan, Northern African, and French styles, layouts, and designs.
Perhaps this is among the reasons why a visit to the Royal Palace of
Casablanca is included in almost all tours to Morocco.
Despite the fact that this was only like the summer house of the King of
Morocco at the beginning of the century, the palace was richly decorated
with magnificent ornaments and decorations. This was why perhaps the
king used to welcome many important figures at the Palace of
Casablanca.
