The Temple of Universal Peace

By Seif Kamel
Combining several styles and outlines of traditional outlines of Chinese
temples and monasteries dedicated for the cult of Buddha, the Temple of
Universal Peace is one distinctive monument. Many travel packages to
China include a visit to this remarkable site.
The most marvelous feature of the Temple of Universal Peace is the
startling huge statue of Guanyin. Made out of the finest types of wood,
the statue has the height of 72 feet. It is considered the largest statue
made of wood all over the globe.
Constructed around the end of the 18 th century, the Temple of Universal
Peace was established during the reign of the Emperor Qianlong. It was
created following the outlines and designs of an ancient temple
constructed at the Tibet.
