The Camlica Hill in Turkey
By Seif Kamel
Why do tourists who spend their vacations in Turkey visit the Camlica
Hill? Situated in Istanbul, the hill, first of all, offers magnificent views
of the Bosporus Strait and the Marmara Sea. Travelers commonly would
enjoy a cup of tea or a drink while they watch the surrounding beauty.
As a matter of fact, there are actually two hills in this area. The first one
is the small hill, 228 meters above sea level and other one is the big hill,
267 meters above sea level, as literally translated from the Turkish
language.
The rulers of the Ottoman Empire had special attention towards the
Camlica Hill. This resulted in the construction of various buildings and
establishments in different sections of the hill. These include a summer
resort by Murat IV and a bridge by Mehmet IV, in addition to some
appealing fountains.

By Seif Kamel
The Plaza De Toro is perhaps the largest and oldest bullring in Spain.
Situated at the Spanish Capital, Madrid, the establishment was founded
in 1931 and it accommodates more than 20,000 spectators.
The Plaza De Toro consists of a large arena with the diameter of around
60 meters, making the largest in the world. The spectators’ zone include
10 groups of 27 rows surrounding the arena. A visit to the bullring is a
must during a vacation in Spain as it is part of the culture of the country.
As any other performances around the world, the price of your ticket
mainly depends on the position of your seat around the arena. Nearer
seats are more expensive than seats which are far. Another factor is that
is the seat situated in the sun or under shades. In fact, there are many
festivals and events that take place in the Plaza De Toro that grab the
attention of numerous tourists who spend their vacations in Spain.

The Lorelei Rock in Germany
By Seif Kamel
Situated on the banks of the Rhine river in Germany, the Lorelei Rock is
a distinctive natural phenomenon. With the height of 132 meters, the
Lorelei Rock rises inside the river in a unique scene that grabs the
attention of tourists who enjoy their holidays in Germany.
In fact, there is an interesting legend about the rock and its name. Lorelei
is said to be a German mermaid, created by famous writer, Clemens
Brentano at the beginning of the 19 th century. She waited for her lover to
show up, but when he didn’t, she committed suicide.
Another reason behind the name of this famous rock, that became an
important landmark explored by numerous tourists who visit Germany,
is the murmuring rock. This is because an old little waterfall that used to
exist at rock used to produce a murmuring sound back in the 18 th and 19 th
century.

The Medieval City of Rhodes
By Seif Kamel
Serving as a military stronghold in the period from the beginning of the
14 th century to the beginning of the 16 th century, there are some
magnificent establishments in medieval Rhodes that are always worth
exploring by tourists who visit Greece.
There is for example the hospital and the famous Street of the Knights
which were both established following gothic outlines and concepts.
There are also some Islamic establishments constructed in the region of
the Ottoman Empire including a historical mosque and some public
baths.
The layout and organization of urban centers are apparently clear in the
architecture and even the materials used to construct various
establishments. A good merit carried out by the Ottomans is that they
never had a negative impact on the older constructions. Today, medieval
Rhodes is a wonderful site in Greece.
