The Fortress of Europe in Istanbul

Istanbul is one of the interesting cities all over the world. Isn’t it enough
that the city is located on the lands of two continents; Asia and Europe?
It also hosts numerous interesting touristic sites.

Commonly missed by many tourists who visit Turkey, the Fortress of
Europe is a remarkable historical site. Established at the middle of the
15 th century, Sultan Mohamed Al Fateh, or the conqueror constructed it
when the Ottomans took control of Turkey at the time.

Situated on the West Banks of Bosporus, the Fortress was founded to
guard the European part of the city, while the Fortress of Asia, located
on the East Bank protected the Eastern part. Today, the Fortress of
Europe welcomes hundreds of tourists who travel to Turkey.

The Historical Monastery of Saint Antony in Egypt

Copts, in the ancient Greek language is actually derived from a word
that means Egyptian. It was during the 1 st century AD, when Saint Mark,
one of the Apostles, came to spread Christianity in Egypt. Since that
time, and until today, the Egyptian Copts had many remarkable
establishments that still grab the attention of tourists who travel to
Egypt.

The Monastery of St. Antony was the first to be established in Egypt.
Situated inside the Eastern Desert of Egypt, the Monastery of Saint
Antony is located around 100 kilometers to the South West of Al Ain El
Sokhna and around 200 kilometers to the North East of Cairo.
The monastery was founded by Saint Antony who lived in that exact
location all by himself when he became an orphan before he was 16
years old. Several followers of Saint Antony continued operating it until
today. Famous for its wonderful 13 th century original motifs and
ornaments, a visit to the monastery is a must for anyone interested in the
distinctive Coptic monuments of Egypt.

A significant touristic attraction of the capital of Vietnam is the old
quarter of the capital, Hanoi. With history extending back to the 12 th
century AD, there are several historical sites like the Ho Chi Minh
Mausoleum, the Temple of ­Literature, and some interesting museums as
well.

Another great monument to explore by tourists who visit Vietnam is the
historical site of the Citadel of Long. Constructed around 1000 years
ago, it is one of the finest examples of the architecture of South Eastern

A magnificent natural area to visit in Iceland is the Glazier Volcano.
When the water runs deep inside the ground for more than 1500 meters,
it raises again due to the high temperature resulting in a breathtaking

The Most Remarkable Islamic Monuments in Cairo

Nicknamed as the city of the thousand minarets, Cairo hosts a huge
number of Islamic monuments dating to various dynasties and periods of
history. There are over thousands of Islamic monuments in the Egyptian
capitals. However, there are several highlights that tourists who visit
Egypt should never miss.

There is the Mosque of Amr ibn El Aas, the first to be established in
Egypt and in the African continent. Constructed around the middle of
the 7 th century when Moslems conquered Egypt, the mosque was rebuilt
and renovated many times. Nevertheless, it still preserves its glory.
The Mosque of Sultan Hassan is among the most amazing constructions
of the Mamluks in Egypt. Constructed in the 14 th century, the Mosque is
one of the largest and most marvelous in Egypt.

There is also the Mosque of Ahmed ibn Tulun. Built in the 9 th century,
the mosque is the oldest in the country that preserves most of its original
parts and ornaments. The Mosque of Mohamed Ali in the Saladin
Citadel is also not to be missed by tourists who travel to Egypt.
