The Edinburgh Castle in Scotland

The Edinburgh Castle is in fact one of the most famous Scottish
monuments. It is located in the city that holds the same name,
Edinburgh. Historians claim that humans have settled on the rock where
the castle is located, Castle Rock, as early as the 2nd century AD.
A royal British castle was established on this rock as early as the 12th
century AD, in the reign of King David I and was used as a royal
residence foe more than 400 years afterwards. Today, it one of the
famous historical monuments commonly explored by tourists spending
their vacations in Scotland.
At the end of the 18th century, the Edinburg Castle was used as a
military stronghold. Scholars assert that the caste was besieged for 26
times during its long history, extending for more than 11 centuries. They
claim that it is the strongest and most fortified castle in Great Britain.
Nowadays, it became a landmark of Scotland and a marvelous site to
visit.
