The Medieval City of Rhodes

By Seif Kamel
Serving as a military stronghold in the period from the beginning of the
14 th century to the beginning of the 16 th century, there are some
magnificent establishments in medieval Rhodes that are always worth
exploring by tourists who visit Greece.
There is for example the hospital and the famous Street of the Knights
which were both established following gothic outlines and concepts.
There are also some Islamic establishments constructed in the region of
the Ottoman Empire including a historical mosque and some public
baths.
The layout and organization of urban centers are apparently clear in the
architecture and even the materials used to construct various
establishments. A good merit carried out by the Ottomans is that they
never had a negative impact on the older constructions. Today, medieval
Rhodes is a wonderful site in Greece.
