The Yu Gardens in China

The Yu, or Yuyuan Garden, is among the most magnificent places to be visited in Shanghai. Established during the reign of the Ming Dynasty, the garden was first established around the end of the 14 th century. However, the construction and renovations went on for centuries afterwards.

The word Yu in the Chinese language means the pleasing experience. This word in fact reflects every single detail of the Yu Garden. Although the Yu Garden only has a surface area of 20,000 square meters, the garden hosts all the elements to be found in historical classical gardens all over China.

The most wonderful elements to watch for in the Yu Garden include the Great Rockery, the largest rock in the region. Another notable rock is the Exquisite Jade Rock. There is also the Sansui Hall that used to welcome visitors to the garden during the ruling period of the Ming Dynasty.
